HOMELESS MOVEMENT -  OIL ON HAHNEMUHLE PAPER

80 x 60 x 1cm - 2019 (Private Collection)

The work is inspired by the painting by Brazilian artist Almeida Junior entitled “Caipira poking smoke”. In the picture stands a contemporary setting, composed of a homeless and his dog in opposition to the setting of a bar with people moving.

The representation of the human figure in motion is inspired by the technique of photography called Motion Blur, here there is the painted record of movement through the blurred image of people. This duality of the human figure sometimes static, sometimes moving, raises questions about life and death, the ephemeral and the eternal.

The homeless and his dog are the spectators of the shadows, they are static and locked in the reality in which they find themselves.
