BINARY CATTLE - OIL ON CANVAS
90 x 160 x 3 cm – 2020
(Private Collection)
The work portrays an urban scene in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, in the scenario is evidenced Paulista Avenue highlighting one of the most important art museums in Latin America, the MASP museum.
Avenida Paulista nowadays is a place where great acts of political manifestations occur frequently.
In current times every act of political manifestation shows an ideology, the reality is binary and is built from the world of appearances. The idea that all people are cattle is represented in the concrete image of the ox, while the figure of human beings express uncertainty due to their image being deformed.
In the world built by appearances, rationality is represented by architectural elements ordered by perspective, they are immutable and are opposed to the emotion present in the blurred image of people and cars in motion.
