Na obra há o retrato de um adolescente fazendo uso da tecnologia e em meio a uma forte sensação de tédio.
Na composição do quadro há um caderno que representa o conhecimento, há também um mini skate que representa a diminuta sensação de prazer e alegria que o jovem sente.
A selfie que o adolescente fotografa de si próprio se torna a sombra no fundo da caverna contemporânea graças aos sentimentos de tédio e desânimo que ele expressa, e gradativamente a caverna aumenta de tamanho e invade o ambiente conforme estes sentimentos o dominam.

The selfie the teenager photographs of himself becomes the shadow at the bottom of the contemporary cave thanks to the feelings of boredom and dismay he expresses, and the cave gradually increases in size and invades the environment as these feelings overwhelm him.
