EVERYTHING THAT IS VIRAL CONSUMES US - OIL ON CANVAS AND WOODEN FRAME

MADE BY CNC LASER MACHINE- 140 x 90 x 3 cm - 2020

The work features eye paintings in a set of wood frames engraved and cut using CNC laser machines. The numbers on the surface of the frame consist in a message encoded by binary numbers, the content of the message is written in the Luxembourgish language, consists of a question about the contemporary world, in this work the binary message has the following reflection:

"Alles waat viral ass verbraucht us". (“Everything that is viral consumes us”).

In the contemporary world we are observed by algorithms, our world is shaped by binary sequences and we are part of a world where ideologies and thoughts consume us and are spread in a viral way among all.

With this, we are controlled at the moment when our lives are based only on appearances.

The work has a duality, the machine builds the frame idealized by the artist and serves as a framework for paintings made by hand.

This duality between the industrial and artisanal practice makes the human being a product, are monitored and encouraged to think like everyone else.
