NOTHING THAT OBSERVES ME IS REAL - OIL ON CANVAS AND WOODEN FRAME

MADE BY CNC LASER MACHINE - 90 x 140 x 3 cm - 2020

The work features eye paintings in a set of wood frames engraved and cut using CNC laser machines. The number on the surface of the frame is a message encoded in binary numbers, the content of the message is a current question about the contemporary world and is written in English, in this work the binary message has the following reflection:

“NOTHING THAT OBSERVES ME IS REAL.”

In the contemporary world we are observed by algorithms, our world is shaped by binary sequences and we are part of a world where our ideologies and thoughts are based only on the appearances of things, and not on what is real.

The work has a duality, the machine builds the frame idealized by the artist and serves as a framework for paintings made by hand.

This duality between the industrial and artisanal environment makes the human being a product, we are monitored and encouraged to think the same as everyone.
